On June 16, 2013 members of the Hackensack Fire Department took part in a firefighters cook off at Fairway grocery store in Paramus NJ. Members prepared fresh hamburgers, vegetable kabobs, and beef ribs. Each course judged on preparation, flavor, and presentation. Hackensack placed 2nd place in the cook off missing 1st place by only 1 point. Extra items were prepared for the spectators to sample and try HFD’s cooking. This is a yearly event that Fairway holds to raise money for charity of the winning team’s choice. This was HFD’s first year in the contest and we look forward to next year. Members had a great time preparing the dishes. Big thank you to Jason, Conkle and Mickey Golabek for coming up with the recipes for the dishes. HFD would like to congratulate Park Ridge fire department for winning and Ridgewood fire department on their 3rd place finish.
