On June 19th AATW remembers Righting Day, a holiday that isnt a holiday anymore. On this day in 1965 Algerian Colonel Boumédienne replaced Ahmed Ben Bella, the Northern African nations first president, in a bloodless coup. After Boumédienne died in 1978 came more military rule, then a terrible civil war . . . by 2005, with Abdelaziz Bouteflika presiding over a relatively stable land, Algeria was ready to move on from the Boumédienne years, dropping Righting Day from its holiday list. On this day AATW sings the very right Ya Rahah, popularized by Algerian rai rocker, Rachid Taha. Listen here: bit.ly/1l3DgLb
