On June 25, the SME-chaired Mining and Sustainability Task Force of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations met in Johannesburg, South Africa to develop content for an international seminar on capacity building in the mining industry. SME 2010 president Nikhil Trivedi chairs the Task Force. SMEs John Hayden and 2013 SME president Jessica Kogel also attended on SMEs behalf. Jim Talyor, 2014 president of SAIMM, attended the Task Force meeting and offered a southern African perspective on mining and sustainability.
