On Labor Day in 1994, 20 years ago I lost the most important man in my life. Dad, I think about you now as often as I did when it happened. I truly believe that you are watching over me and I try to live my life the way you raised me. I feel sad when I think about losing you so young but that is quickly replaced with happiness when I think of how lucky I was to have you as long as I did. You were givin a heart transplant at the age of 52 that was expected to last 5 year and I value the 8 year that heart lasted, I was blessed with 3 unexpected years that to me were SO golden. You were a great Husband, Father, Deputy Sheriff, and anyone who ever knew you, never has a single bad word to say about you, and that includes some who you had to arrest, which says a lot. I would be lying if I said Im ok with you not being here, but I know that if I close my eyes and listen, I can hear you loud and clear... For you are not gone in my mind, just a little harder to hear!! I love you, my hero... My Dad!!
