On March 5, 1770 a misunderstanding, fear, and the fog of war led to British soldiers firing on unarmed civilians. 8 soldiers were arrested and charged with murder. Their attorney was future President John Adams. 6 soldiers were acquitted and 2 were convicted of the lesser charge of manslaughter. The convicted soldiers sentence was to have their hands branded. We have the tradition of the rule of law in this country. You dont have to like the law but you must obey it. To have the american judicial system under the threat of riots is a lynch mob mentality. Rule of law is an aspect of a free society. This why it is so critical for law to have a foundation in a greater truth rather than feelings of an individual, party, or the will of the majority. https://youtube/watch?v=_rTrUL7ns2E
