On Monday 10 March, the CamFemSoc will be holding our FINAL EVENT OF THE TERM. Its our Lent Symposium--please come support the work of feminist researchers! See below for more information-- please forward it on to any relevant lists & contacts. Cambridge Feminist Society Lent Symposium Monday 10 March 7pm - 9pm Armitage Room, Queens College Dr. Jane Partner, Ariella Rotenberg, Jo Murray and Cherie Elston will be presenting their research at our end of term Symposium. The presentation topics are: -womens texts on textiles -political economy of gender in Belgian Congo -feminist and pacifist movements in contemporary Columbia -women and the Common Law Note that this event is open to self-defined women and those who have sometimes identified as women. Please read the full details on our website. Other events: This is going to be an exciting week for feminist academic initiatives at Cambridge! Mona Siddiqui and Gayatri Spivak will be giving presentations, and there will be another feminist symposium. Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak: Crimes of Identity 1730, Tuesday 11 March 2014 Keynes Hall, Kings College Mona Siddiqui (1) 10 March: Lecture 1: Can you Text a Divorce? Negotiating Women’s Rights in Law and Society. (2) 11 March: Lecture 2: Mary in Christian-Muslim Relations. (3) 12 March: Lecture 3: From the Feminine to Feminism: Women in Islamic Thought and Literature. (4) 13 March: Concluding Symposium: Feminism, Religion, and Womens Rights. (Registration required) The lectures will take place at the Mill Lane Lecture Rooms from 5pm to 6.30pm.
