On Monday, December 8, 2014 the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office responded to the second protest of the day on the southside. Just after 5:00 this afternoon citizens began calling the sheriffs office reporting a group of individuals obstructing northbound traffic on the Hart bridge. The group was said to have stopped their vehicles on the bridge as around 15 individuals exited the vehicles and protested with signs as they walked along the bridge. Police responded to the area shortly after the calls started coming in. The group was safely escorted off the bridge to the area of Duval and Parker Streets while the investigation was concluded. Director Tom Hackney of the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office advised that around twenty individuals were detained and would be arrested for Obstructing Traffic and at least one subject would be charged with battery on a law enforcement officer. Hackney advised that the sheriffs office respects citizens right to protest and would work to ensure their safety while doing so. However, they should do so lawfully and safely. At the time of this article, the exact number and the identity of all individuals involved was not known. youtu.be/KfP2J9puZnA
