On Monday January 12, my lovely daughter Rosalynn Emberton will be getting surgery on her cervical spine. Her neurosurgeon will insert a titanium screw into C1 and C2 to stop C1 from slipping over C2, and he will remove some bone at the base of her skull. She had whiplash injuries 10 years ago (age 11) when she was a competitive figure skater. Over the years, she was seen by nearly 100 doctors to try to find a cause for her severe pain and neurological symptoms. It wasn’t until very recently that we could see the damage on a Dynamic Motion X-Ray (DMX) and an Upright MRI, which showed ligament damage, C1 slippage over C2, and her cerebellum descending somewhat (Chiari Malformation), squeezing her vertebral artery and also causing elevated cranial pressure. Her neurosurgeon, Dr. Joel Franck, will have a special team performing image-guided surgery at the Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida. We will be staying around two weeks in the area. Here is a youtube video that explains Rosalynn’s condition and how the surgery is performed. https://youtube/watch?v=spMkX3XAWjs&feature=youtu.be The journey has been very hard, but despite the setbacks, Rosalynn has shown so much strength and hasn’t given up. It has been very hard on the family to watch our loved one suffer so much, but we now have tangible hope that she will find healing and have a great recovery. We would greatly appreciate your prayers!
