On Monday, September 29, 2014, the Lewis County Sheriffs Office along with Detectives from FADE Drug Task Force were conducting drug interdiction patrol in an attempt to intercept illegal narcotics. At approximately 2340 hrs, Deputy Matt Ross observed a vehicle traveling west on Rock Run Road that fit the description of a vehicle that was allegedly bringing heroin from Michigan to Kentucky. When Deputy Ross activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated and continued west on Rock Run Road. After a brief pursuit, Officers located the vehicle behind a residence and identified the driver as 32-year-old Trina Manning of Vanceburg. During the investigation, Ms. Manning admitted to having a quantity of heroin concealed in her body cavity in which she voluntarily produced 18 packs of heroin to a female employee of the Lewis County Sheriffs Office. Ms. Manning was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Heroin), Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, Operating on a Suspended or Revoked License and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, which was a result of a minor child being in the vehicle. She also had outstanding warrants for her arrest from Lewis Circuit Court. Ms. Manning was lodged in the Lewis County Detention Center. The Lewis County Sheriffs Office and Detectives with FADE continue to investigate the incident.
