On Monday as I walked past the rotunda in Church St Dubbo, young - TopicsExpress

On Monday as I walked past the rotunda in Church St Dubbo, young black leader, Bruce Wilson asked me to take part in the Naidoc Day March through town to Victoria Park. Thinking it was a bit 1970s but wanting to stand with my people I agreed. I was more than stunned however when the March started to find that the March was being led by the newly elected and unopposed Mayor of Dubbo, Mat Dickerson and local Dubbo RSL President and good bloke, Tom Gray and a couple of old diggers, with their medals sparkling in the morning sun. As a small group of us begun the March the mood was festive sprinkled with Chat, Banter and Greetings for those friends that joined black and white on the footpaths of Dubbo. Although it was a Naidoc Day March, having the Mayor, the President of the RSL and the diggers lead the March through Dubbo not only gave it official status but it also gave the March a real community feel. The example Mayor Dickerson and RSL President Tom Gray really raises the bar for other Councils and RSL clubs. Thanks fellas!
