On Monday, it was my privilege to hear North Carolina Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker reinforce the importance of the east in economic progress for our state, emphasizing a need to promote agriculture and advanced manufacturing. She noted that in recent interviews with 1,000 North Carolina companies, employers resoundingly agreed that the keys to successful economic growth are (1) make it easy for people to find the jobs that are available, (2) shore up our career centers so that people can get back to work, (3) help our veterans connect with employers, and (4) focus on our Community Colleges.
