On Mothers Day, Sunday May 11th, We Celebrate the Women and Children We Serve, Their Strength, Their Courage and Their Capacity to Thrive. This year 45,000 women and children will spend Mothers Day in a domestic violence shelter. They found the courage to escape violent homes while giving love and care to their children. They often make the choice to leave their abusive relationships because of their children and not wanting them to endure the same physical and mental abuse. We Honor and Celebrate these brave women every day and especially this Mothers Day. We wish them a life going forward free from fear and violence of any kind. Victims of domestic violence who need to leave dangerous situations and do not have resources often face a lack of available, safe places. In our community, Grace Smith House plays a critical role in providing support and safety for victims and their families.
