On New Years Eve, 21 month old Maksim was admitted to the hospital for kidney failure caused by e coli. He is on dialysis 24/7, is retaining fluids around his heart and face, his glucose levels have been elevated to sky-high levels and are now being managed with insulin, and he is now in septic shock. He is fighting sepsis (several unknown infections in his whole body), has had several blood transfusions, and is in an induced coma. He needs an MRI to check for a possible stroke, but that has been postponed until he is more stable. The next few days are absolutely critical for his survival. An update from his dad last night reads, With all his body is going through there is no margin left. Keeping him alive (giving him the right amounts of everything) is a very delicate balancing act. But we know our God is greater and we are trusting in Him! Specific prayer requests: 1. Pray that even with non-working kidneys that these infections would LEAVE his body and there will be NO brain implications. 2. Pray that the cultures would grow rapidly so they can give him the proper antibiotics rather than just general ones. 3. Pray that the doctors would have wisdom in their decision when the right time is to give him the antibody for H.U.S. (there is a small window to administer this but giving it has the potential to also create additional infection problems). 4. Proclaim that satan has NO foothold in this family, in Maksims body, or in Maksims mind! 5. Pray for mom and dad. For peace, understanding, faith, trust, and rest. That we will be a testimony and blessing to others here in similar situations. We apologize for the frankness of this update, but this is the reality presented to us. Thank God we believe in something greater that the doctors report and we stand on that. Again, to hear of all the people, including people we have never met, that are standing in the gap on his and our behalf encourages and humbles us. Thank you.
