On Nov. 20, 2013 at approximately 3:53 p.m. a member of the Bel Air Police Department was struck by a vehicle. This officer was directing traffic at the scene of a kitchen fire on Nichols Street in Bel Air, near the Ma & Pa Trail parking lot. The officer is a 6-year veteran of the Bel Air Police Department and served in Baltimore City prior to that. Our officer suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma via Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter. The expected recovery is going to be difficult and extended. Our officer is surrounded by encouragement of her family and friends as she battles with her injuries. The Bel Air Police Association Local # 229 is spearheading an effort to collect donations for our injured officer. The funds collected will be used to assist her and her family with offsetting any additional costs associated with her line of duty injury that will not be covered.
