On November 1, 2013, a tragic accident shook the Sanad family, owners of Laziza Restaurant on the Marietta Square. While Ali Wael was showing Mr. Raouf Sanad his gun, it accidentally went off. Tragically, Ali was shot and passed away from the injury. Ali was like a son to Mr. and Mrs. Sanad. Unfortunately, Mr. Sanad was arrested the following morning and charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct, and pointing a weapon at another person. He is currently still in jail awaiting release. The Sanad family is not only mourning the loss of a very close family friend, they are also dealing with the head of their family being in jail and the legal burden that the charges present. The family is reeling emotionally and financially from something that happened in an instant. The Atlanta bellydance community and the patrons of Laziza are holding a benefit to show support for the Sanad family during this difficult time. The Sanad family has worked very hard to make this business a success and now has the weight of the world on their shoulders. Laziza Restaurant has served the Marietta Square and the community of Marietta for the last year. We would like to return the favor in showing the Sanad family our love and support.
