On November 11th, I am thankful for factory workers. Specifically, for every single man and woman who were part of Dads daytime family. Im especially thankful for Kevin, who walked us through Priefert today and showed us where Dad died, where he worked, where he lived for 8+ hours a day, 5 days a week. Im thankful for every person who loved him. I loved seeing where he worked. You walk in the door, and you think, Hey, it smells like Dad! Oil and grease and big loud engines, showers of sparks, conveyor belts full of metal and tubes and things. Kevin even showed us the last project Dad finished for him: a machine that made things easier for the welders, two of whom were female. The work they do, all day, every day, seems so much more satisfying than just pushing around some paper on a desk. At the end of the day, there are results from the work of their hands. So, to every man or woman who spends their days working hard and doing well, and then says to someone, Oh, Im just a factory worker / welder / maintenance worker / forklift driver, thank you.
