On November 11th, Veterans Day, as we continue to watch what is - TopicsExpress

On November 11th, Veterans Day, as we continue to watch what is happening in this country under the present Democratic rule and watch this administration continue down the path that can now clearly be seen by those who are truly concerned with the country’s well-being, there are questions that must be asked: Is this what our forefathers fought for? Is what is happening today what I, as a veteran, believed in and fought for? I contend that it IS NOT. I contest that the path we are being led down is what I fought against. The loss of lives, the struggle we went through over so many years and so many wars and battles to fight for the freedom of peoples from the tyranny that would enslave them seems very nearly (and God forbid that it’s true), for naught. Some of the very same ideology can be seen staring us in the face as we watch and listen to the news on TV, the airways and on the internet… if we cared enough to actually look, listen and try to understand what it continues to manifest here in our land. As votes continue to be bought and paid for by an administration against the will of those being forced to pick up the tab, there is contention and division. This feeling of contention and division is only magnified by the administration’s extreme ineptness and carelessness in the handling of that which is demanded from only half of the country. The following was copied from another website (PolitiChicks.tv) that shares some of our forefathers’ views on the type of democracy we are facing today: “A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, when fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine percent.” – Thomas Jefferson “Democracy is the most vile form of government…Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention: have ever been found incompatible with personal security or rights of property and have in general been short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.” – James Madison “Democracy…while it lasts is more bloody than aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.” – John Adams “[I]ntended, our government should be a Republic, which differs more widely from a Democracy than a Democracy from a despotism.” – Fisher Ames “A simple democracy is the devil’s own government.” – Jedediah Morse, one of the authors of the Bill of Rights What veterans have fought for was to have a voice as to our own destinies. That I fear is being lost with each new executive order, each debacle and each new law and tax that puts the hands of the over-reaching government deeper into our lives. God save the country that I believe many of our veterans have fought and many a soldier has died for. I thank them for their past sacrifices and their continued service. God Bless America and her veterans.
