On November 13, 1974 police discovered six members of the DeFeo family murdered inside the house at 112 Ocean Avenue in the quaint Long Island town of Amityville. Ronald DeFeo, the eldest son, would eventually confess to the crimes and the house lay vacant for 13 months. When George and Kathy Lutz moved into the home in December of 1975, they apparently started to experience strange, demonic occurrences despite having the home blessed by a priest. After experiencing strange voices, bloody hands, oozing walls and being awoken at 3:15 a.m. every day (the time the murders occurred) The Lutz family moved out of the home after 28 days and contacted DeFeos attorney. Eventually a bestselling book and two films were produced, but many doubted Lutzs claims. He openly admitted to embellishing his story for Hollywood, but insisted on his story being authentic.
