On November 14th , 2014, Marshall University in Huntington West Virginia held the 44th annual Memorial Service for the 75 Players, Coaches and Boosters who perished on November 14th 1970, in the worst plane crash in American Sports history, Two of the boys that passed were from my hometown, the Quarterback, Lionel Teddy Shoebridge and the place kicker Marcel Lajterman, It was one of those nights that everyone in our little town knew where they were when the news hit, I happened to be with Teddys brother Tom at a local dance with a bunch of guys when Tom was told to go home, that something had happened to his brother Teddy, Teddy was our local hero, I remember being in 8 th grade and going down to the local basketball courts and trying to get into a pick up game with the older boys, and nobody would pick me, but I showed up everyday and waited and waited, until one day they needed an extra guy and Teddy said Ill take Georgie on my team, I couldnt believe he knew my name, it was like Mickey Mantle noticing me, he had that kind of presence, A couple of weeks ago Teddys younger brothers Tommy and Terry went down to Marshall for the Memorial Service and Tommy was the keynote speaker, he did a great job, very proud of him, not an easy thing to do, it is a rather long video, but if you go to the 36th minute you can see Tom give the keynote speech
