On November 1st we had to say good-bye to this beautiful boy. Randy came into our lives 8 short years ago after he was dumped by his previous owner to fend for himself. Terrified and lonely he was caught by caring people who couldnt bear the thought of him starving and alone. Brought to Oakbank Animal Hospital, he found a safe haven and learned to trust. He won my heart when he crawled towards me and put his head in my lap. I was smitten and a few weeks later he became part of our family. Trusting, joyful and loving he taught us what pure, unabandoned joy and unconditional love is. Randy would sing for anyone and any reason, often for no apparent reason! Only last week his body began to lose its battle with prostate cancer, it had spread to his lungs and we couldnt bear the thought of him suffering. He was happy and still singing, although with less enthusiasm on the day we said our good-byes. Randy had many friends, his most special was his auntie Breanne who he loved with all his heart. We shared many walks, swims, horseback rides, snowshoes and conversations with Randy. His nicknames were many, Doofus , Randiculous and Randoofus to name a few. He made anyone who met him smile. I loved him with all my heart and his passing leaves a huge void. I am so blessed that he chose me to love.... I hope his spirit finds its way back to me.
