On November 21, 2013, several thousand Ukrainians came out to the city squares to protect the country’s European future. Ukrainians correlated this positive, just future with the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union. The decision of Viktor Yanukovych’s team to not sign the document evoked resistance, which ended in the Revolution of Dignity. A year has gone by since the protests began. And a new President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, signed the Association Agreement, and the newly elected Verkhovna Rada promises to form a pro-European government and reform the country according to the Agreement. However, Moscow’s attempt to suspend the launch of the free-trade zone was successful. The most important part of the agreement will not come into effect until the beginning of 2016.
