On November 22, 2012 I drafted a detailed list of Resolutions that I wanted to push as the Chairman of Placencia, and have it adopted by as much NGOs as possible and then presented to BTB, Ministry of Tourism, Finance, Beltraide and all other necessary government entities. To name a few of the more important resolutions, I had (and this was after talking to as much stakeholders as possible): - Reducing cost of capital/micro loans to local businesses - Discounted fuel - Reducing communication cost - Identifying the types of investors we want and seeking them out on the world market. NGOS, IF YOU ARE NOT DOING THIS, YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER IT - TAXI COOPERATIVES, TOUR GUIDE COOPERATIVES, ETC... As per fuel reduction, what entities such as taxi cooperatives, fishing cooperatives et al, should consider is: - Approach the fuel companies and ask for dealer margins discount, which will also encourage more people to join, as well as stimulate members to become more active, for members will be able to access the discounted fuel. >The logic behind this approach, which works in other areas of the country, is that NGOs can make note of the fact that their combined membership spends large sums of money on fuel every year, and if they give discounts to the membership, the cooperative, for example, will then inform their membership of this agreement and create an agreement that all members buy fuel from that particular fuel company. Since there are several fuel companies now operating in Belize, this should not be hard to accomplish. - BTB noted that it is hard for Government to assist in lowering cost of fuel for the issue is CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) - the landing cost of fuel. (BULL CRAP - FUEL IS GOBS CASH COW) - BTB also suggested that NGOs should also approach businesses, such as Bennys, to lobby for discounts to their membership. - BTB committed that upon request, they will give support letting businesses that are approached for discounts to the NGOs, know that they are legitimate. UNITY. IT IS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS. ALL THE TIME. EVERY TIME.
