On October 1, 2014, Baker County Narcotics Enforcement Team (BCNET) members from the Baker City Police Department and Baker County Sheriff’s Office completed a three month investigation, which was initiated and primarily investigated by the John Day Police Department. This investigation spanned three counties, Grant, Baker and Malheur, and was supported by the Oregon State Police Patrol Division. On October 1, 2014 at 6:57 p.m. a Baker County Sheriff’s Deputy, accompanied by a Baker City Police Sergeant, initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 84 at the 306 off-ramp. The vehicle stopped was a 1996 Honda Accord, which investigators believed to be driven by a suspect in this investigation. Arrested from the vehicle was Jeremy Mclean of Huntington; for Criminal Conspiracy to a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.On October 1, 2014 at 9:09 p.m. the same Baker County Sheriff’s Deputy, accompanied by a Baker City Police Sergeant, initiated a traffic stop in the Baker City Truck Corral Parking Lot. The vehicle stopped was a rented 2014 Hyundai Sonata, which investigators believed to be driven by a suspect in this investigation. Arrested from the vehicle were Chet Schisler of Huntington for Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine, Criminal Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance x 2, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance x 2; and Keri Strawn, a transient for Criminal Conspiracy to Deliver a Controlled Substance x 2, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. Seized thus far are over 60 grams of Methamphetamine, 70 Percocet Pills and four ounces of an unknown substance. Search warrants are pending for both vehicles seized in this coordinated effort.
