On October 18th the TUC Britain Needs a Pay Rise Demo will take place... sadly it is unlikely to mobilise 100,000s of people in part because of the political dynamic in England is drifting to the right and the rise of UKIP is part of this process. In Scotland the dynamic is towards the Left with thousands joining the SNP, the Scottish Socialist Party, Solidarity and the Scottish Green Party. In Ireland the Rise of Sinn Fein and the electoral success of Paul Murphy in Dublin South West shows the Left is growing in Ireland. On Saturday 100,000 took part in the Dublin Demo against Water Charges that is equivalent to a mobilisation of over 1 million in England.
