On October 1st, 1962 President John F. Kennedy signed a law into effect, designating May 15th of every year as Peace Officer Memorial Day and ordered that all flags on that day be lowered to half mast to honor the nations fallen officers. To date, over 20,000 police officers have made the ultimate sacrifice, protecting our citizens. Each of their names are inscribed on the National Police Memorial wall in DC. That monument is the only memorial in our nations capital that sadly will never be complete, as every 53 hours an officer in this country looses his/her life protecting us. Please take a moment today to reflect on our fallen officers, and to honor those who still serve. Stay safe
