“On October 28th, 2014 the Cobb County Police Department’s Special Operations (Motor Unit) was awarded 1st place by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (I.A.C.P) during its yearly Law Enforcement Challenge (N.L.E.C.) program. The award covered the 2013 calendar year and sought out police agencies throughout the nation who focus on traffic safety initiatives. Each year the challenge measures statistics, data and outcomes of enforcement initiatives and public education across several fronts to include speeding, occupant protection, and driving under the influence. Awards are also given in specialized areas like commercial vehicle safety, pedestrian safety bicycle safety and motorcycle safety. Congratulations to the Cobb County Police Department’s Special Operations (Motor Unit) for receiving the Motorcycle Safety Award during the Highway Safety Awards banquet at the 121st I.A.C.P. conference in Orlando, Florida.
