On October 4th, 2012, I met the sweetest little 9 lb. 9 oz. man in the Universe! Miles Owen Hurst. God blessed me to be the girl he calls mommy that day, and together we accomplished a smooth, 1 hr 48 min water birth in our home. And for every day that has followed, that boy has made my heart sing, surprised and enchanted me! While he is sweet, generous with toys and treats, adores diddey (sissy) and follows her to the moon and back - Miles is 100% B-O-Y. Earlier today as we were chilling, snacking on pretzels I noticed him look thoughtfully down at his pile. He picked up a broken pretzel, pointed it at me and hollered, Boom, Boom BOOM. We both laughed and laughed! Cars, trucks and GUNS are his jam! But he would play for hours in the bath if I let him, pouring and dumping cups of water back and forth. And of course - splashing sissy! He always prefers to wear boots (even if they are Danielles). Talking on the phone is another favorite! He likes to sneak the house phone, redial important contacts, and carry it around the house waving his hands, babbling away! (hopefully making someones day!) He copies anything we say, but some of my favorite (unprompted) Miles words are PIZZAAA, shoot!, gun, beep- beep, Jump (on the trampoline), and Bye-Bye as he walks away waving, on a mission somewhere without me. He expressions are so intense and animated, but so pure & genuine and almost ALWAYS end with a huge cheeky grin. Miles has pulled some doozys, too! Like the time he, the dog and I were out in the middle of a huge horse farm, & I had a chore to accomplish. It was cold and drizzely outside, so Miles and Max stayed in the truck with the window 1/4 way down. Max is a hot dog furnace, fogging up windows, otherwise. When I had finished, 15 min later, I hopped into the truck, and discovered that the key--the only single solitary key-- was gone!! I searched for an hour throughout the entire truck and in the insanely tall, thick grass---to no avail!! I wanted to cry. My neighbor came to rescue us- saving the day, as I had a busy day ahead of me! And later that evening Phillip and I returned with flashlights and a magnet. It took us 20 min together and finally, it appeared, under the seat, and tucked under a floor mat! Oh Miles. And that folks, is my son. The smiley-est, funniest, handsomest, giggly-est mischief maker EVER! And oh, how I love him to pieces!
