On Personal Development Plan – Steps to Writing Your Personal Development Plan. To achieve your vision you need to set your goals and objectives to achieve each aspect of your goal. For each objective, there are measures, development activities, potential mentors, and a timeline. Let us now go through the steps in writing your Personal Development Plan. 1. Draw a table of five columns and four rows 2. Consider your vision statement and choose a goal that will help you take the first key step toward reaching your vision. 3. Write the goal on top of the table under the heading “MY FIRST MAJOR GOAL”. For example “Write a book on Personal Development” 4. In the first column, write up to three steps/objectives that will help you accomplish one key part of your Goal. Write the objectives as SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, or ATTITUDES to develop (Answer the question: What must I acquire / improve?). Some people choose easy objectives that can be reached immediately (in order to build success and momentum). Others choose the most important objectives that will ensure they master the goal. Whatever works for you do it! We will continue with the other steps on my next post. God will help us.
