On Pregnancy // The other day I told my husband I would rather lay an egg. Ha! Truth be told, my experience being pregnant hasnt been that difficult or traumatizing... Ive actually been considerably blessed. Its just that every time I get out of the shower now I am holding back tears as I look over my ever-changing body. Another new imperfection, another change - growing thighs, growing chest, growing belly, growing ... FEET?! Wait, what?! Eczema, acne, new freckles, new colors, new body... Its all so much! Perhaps God knew that vanity and beauty are so close to a womans heart and identity, that the most gracious instrument He could use to prepare her for the sacrificial journey ahead was to slowly rid her of it, piece by agonizing piece, in preparation for the ultimate loss of self - physically, emotionally, and spiritually - that would come with motherhood. In more ways than one, I am so very cognizant now that I am a work in progress. And in the most challenging ways, I am faced with my own selfishness and vanity, daily. Oh Lord, how I repent. Oh Lord, how I am humbled. // ... straining towards what is ahead, I press on toward the goal... // And again, The Lord uses a babe...
