On Robin Williams Passing: So very sad! A sad end I remember where I was when the news of MJs death hit me. I still find it odd when I think of Berny Max. Now Robin Williams. I know that Jesus said we are in the world but not of it, but it is not possible to be in it and not be affected by it, and those who travel its streets. I do not glory in the death of anyone, famous or not. Sinner or not. It is a real reminder we must all go the way of the grave. But what strikes me is the way many of these people leave this world. We are lead to believe that money, fame, popularity, awards and recognition are to be pursued. Then we wake up, read the papers or listen to the news and hear that someone who had all of the above took a short route out of this life. Hold on, you have money, fame, popularity. You have awards and are recognized as one of the greatest comedians ever and you stand on a stool (or whatever) affix a noose around your neck and step off. Hold on, what about those millions of people who celebrate you? What about your family and friends? What about the world at large? Something deeply disturbing is happening that money, fame, popularity, awards and recognition cant solve. Man, that is dark. Oh, depression, yes, I hear it. I have felt its manacles hands on my heart and soul. But I had something that held me when I couldnt hold on - God, The Lord Jesus Christ. I refuse to make light of RW death, no matter how gruesome. Its a tragedy. But the reality is, it is possible to gain the world and lose your soul. RW let go of the one thing that had the capacity to hold him when he couldnt - Faith in God. He with thousands/millions of others have proclaimed that there is no God (deities). The ancient king, said the fool says in his heart there is no God O.k. If there is no God, what do you hold on to or who holds you when you cannot keep yourself together. If it was a thing, your money could buy it, if you called out, your fame would have someone run to your aid. But it seems these are illusions. They are lies. Money and what it can buy cant help in certain situations. Fame, is an illusion, youre as good as your last best moment. God forbid if that was a long time ago. Robin your last act is a depressing demonstration of a life without hope. A life without God. A life without meaning and purpose. What is confusing is I think making people laugh can and should be a deeply redemptive opportunity. We need to laugh. Laughing is a gift. Making people laugh is a gift, but if that gift doesnt honour God and find its meaning in God, it is only left to come from the dark side as so many in the comedian world have so openly expressed at your passing. So, sad you chose to leave this way. To me, here is the conclusion of the whole matter - hope thou in God!
