On Saturday (13.09.2014) a small walk to see the Telangana museum. Its located beside the Assembly in the Public Grounds compound. Its much smaller than the Salar Jung Museum but its still worth a visit. The main attraction of the museum is an Egyptian mummy that was incidentally brought to the museum by the son-in-law of VI Nizam Mahbub Ali Khan, who bought it for just 1000 pounds. In addition there is a copy of the Holy Quran that bears the seal of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The museum also features a separate gallery on Buddha, a gallery of bronze artefacts, Jain gallery, an Arms & Armour gallery, Numismatics gallery and Ajanta gallery along with other numerous archaeological artefacts from the Nizam, Kakatiya dynasty. Some ancient scripts, lots of paintings and sculptures. There is also a remade ancient rath (chariot) excavated from the banks of a river. Plus there is a small Egyptian room containing a mummy, one of a handful in India.
