On Saturday 2 August, from 10am - 3pm, West Lothian Heritage Services will be hosting a free, family event at Bathgate Partnership Centre to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. The event will bring the First World War vividly alive in the present day. Everyone is invited to come, share and remember. During the day, there will be a range of family friendly activities as well as displays of authentic WW1 uniforms, music, souvenirs and memorabilia - shell cases, helmets, rifles, medals and much more. Historical experts will be on hand to help the public to find out more about the Great War, and discover their own family connections with the war. There will be a replica war trench in the garden. Visitors are invited to bring along any family memorabilia they have from the Great War including photos, letters, medals or diaries. The ScotlandsWar website team will be on hand to advise and assist the uploading of these to the important ScotlandsWar website which will be the central resource for recording all aspects of Scotland and the First World War. Admission is free. For further information, contact 01506 282491, or email [email protected]
