On Saturday 3rd January , Waitrose Store in Christchurch facilitated a charitable food collection for Christchurch Food Bank , organised in partnership with the Christchurch Rotary Club. By working together, a staggering 401kg of food and £54 in cash was collected. Tracy Blick, the Food Bank projects coordinator said:- We were overwhelmed by the generosity of Waitrose customers ; after our unbelievably busy Christmas we are now able to fill our shelves once more! Christchurch Food Bank was set up to help people who are going through a crisis, for example, redundancy, sickness and financial difficulties that can turn peoples lives upside down overnight . Food bank vouchers can be given to those in need by social workers, health visitors and housing officers. (Other community groups can also be involved. ) The vouchers are then exchanged for an emergency food parcel containing enough food for 3 days. Christchurch Food Bank is an independent Christian Voluntary organisation ; all food is donated by local individuals, churches, schools and other organisations . Actual donations and enquiries can be made by contacting Tracy and her team at :- Christchurch Food Bank, The Old Chapel, St Josephs Catholic Church 67 Purewell Christchurch BH23 1EH Tel 07587371088 Emailchristchurchfoodbank@gmail (Photographs show Waitrose team James Hardiman, Danielle Cartmel and Alicia Lyne with Christchurch Rotarians (seen wearing tabards) and generous customers.)
