On Saturday 5th July the thirds bandwagon rolled on Captain Graham Morris lost the toss and Castleknock elected to bat. Ian Anders and Aaron Joseph for (4 for 30) took the new ball, Ian bowled a tight line with a streaky 4 coming off the first over, Aaron bowled the next over, second ball Conrad stumped the opening bat off a good away swinger few overs later Aaron trapped the number three LBW in front, and Bowled the number 4, Graham Morris(2 for 28) rang the changes and bought himself on and bowled the other opener playing on Sean Tomlinson(1 for 32). came on from the other end bowled really well for little return picking up 1 wicket from his 9 overs with Bard Ovendon taking a good catch. Safraz Ramay(1 for 26) took over from Sean again bowled well and had a couple of catches dropped off his bowling eventually Aaron took a catch to give Safraz a wicket. Bard (the burgular) Ovendon (2 for 9) took over from Graham at the other end and took a wicket with his first ball , and one in the next over, eventually bowling Castleknock out for 145 probably 20 runs more than they should have got. The Phoenix innings started with a 100% chance of Percipitation(or rain) so speed was of the utmost, so Sayed Shah(57) and Bard Ovendon (33) got the innings underway, after a couple of quietish overs they both began to pick the pace up, with the 100 partenship coming up in the 18th over, before Bard got stumped going for another big shot, Sayed followed shortly being bowled again going for quick runs, and Adam Bampfield adjudged LBW with the score being 117 for 3 the rain came down quite heavily. After about 45 mins the rain stopped and out came the sun and we resumed again with Naeem and Nitin at the crease Naeem hitting a couple of big shots before being bowled in came Conrad(6*) (a rapid promotion from 11 from the previous game) Nitin hit a couple of nice shots before being well caught, Ian Anders(4*) came to the crease and between Ian and Conrad hit the required 14 runs for victory, A solid team performance with mostly everyone contributing with Bat or Ball, roll on the next league game
