On Saturday 9th May the club took a large contingent of players and parents to Leicester on a Mini Tour. On the Saturday we had a full programme organised by Leicester Tigers that included: 1. Junior Tigers VIP club, with player Q&A, photo opportunities and other pre-match activities. 2. Academy coaching session and meeting. Leicester Tiger player interaction during the session. 3. Watched the Leicester Tigers v Saracens Aviva Premiership game On Sunday 10th May our U7s, 8s, 9s, 10’s and 11’s played at South Leicester RFC where we enjoyed a mixed warm-up session and training activities, training games including mixed teams, followed by a mixed warm down session. We focussed on the players getting the most out of the experience, learning from each other and the coaches of the other club, focussing on the RFU core principles and making new friends. The aim was based on having a training game between the clubs and also by doing things slightly different to normal - mixing up the teams in every age group, which also gave an opportunity for players to play against their friends, learn to work in a team with people they don’t know and create a memorable “tour” experience. The coaches were very much focussed on drawing on every player’s strengths and as usual in mini rugby, the referees looked to coach the players throughout the match to help in their development. Everyone had a fantastic time, many thanks to everyone (you know who you are) who put so much effort into organising the tour.
