On Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 7:00 AM, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a shooting at the Midtown Mobile Park, in the 9400 block of North Government Way in the City of Hayden. Once on scene, deputies were told that two unsupervised juveniles had been playing with a handgun when the gun discharged and one of the juveniles was struck in the head by a small caliber bullet. The injured seven year old boy was transported to Kootenai Health for medical care. He was later transferred to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
