On Saturday January 10th at 10:00 pm, the legendary King of the Chittlin Circuit, Bobby Rush and The King of the Crossroads, James Super Chikan Johnson join together for a night of the best of the best of Mississippi Delta Blues. No band, no rhythm section, no revue, just two legendary bluesmen showcasing blues in the raw. Bobby, who calls Mississippi home, was instrumental in getting the Mississippi Blues Trail marker awarded to Tallahassee and the BBC in 2010. He has also headlined many of the festivals held on the grounds for the last 20 years. Bobby, a 2014 Grammy Nominee, was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2006, received 37 nominations and won seven Blues Music Awards and has won too many Entertainer of the Year and Soul-Blues Artist of the Year awards to list. Hes a masterful harp and guitar player, song writer and vocalist, who does not regularly feature these talents in a solo/duo performance; however, many of his recent CDs--Down in Louisiana, Night Fishin, Folk Funk, Raw and Blind Snake. He was nominated for the 2011 Blues Music Award for the BB King Entertainer of the Year, his second nomination in that category. He brought home the 2010 Blues Music Award for Traditional Blues Album of the Year, has received 7 nominations for Blues Music Awards, numerous critics and readers awards and received the Mississippi Governors Award for Excellence in the Arts in 2004. He plays a multitude of home made stringed instruments fashioned from scrap metal, ceiling fan housings, wood and anything else that tickles his fancy.
