On Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, I was a freshman on the North Park University Football Program that last won a conference contest in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW). In that CCIW Conference Contest, we defeated Elmhurst College 31 to 21. For nearly 13 years after that, the Viking Football program dreadfully went through an 89 conference contest losing streak. Thankfully, on Saturday, October 5, 2013, Head Coach Mike Conway and the 2013 North Park University Viking Football Program defeated Carthage College 22 to 20 before a capacity homecoming crowd at the Holmgren Athletic Complex. I met Coach Conway and I strongly feel, just by talking with him, that he is what the North Park University Community needs in order to elevate the football program in the CCIW. I surely hope that President David L. Parkyn, Dr. Jack Surridge (Athletic Director) and the North Park University Administration do what it takes in order to support Coach Conway and his Viking Football Program in their quest to capture a CCIW Conference Title/NCAA Division III Playoff Berth/NCAA Division III National Championship. I am a proud student/student-athlete of North Park University (Class of 2006). I bleed blue and gold. I will always love my North Park University Football Program. Go Vikes!
