On Saturday October 25, 2014 members of the Partnership for Trenton and the Puerto Rican Civic Association of Trenton participated in several events to further our ability to bring resources and services to the people of this community. First stop was the Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey quarterly Executive Committee meeting where Paul Perez was inducted as a full member and representative on the Executive Staff. The meeting covered some incredibly important issues regarding Children Obesity, Guns in Schools, and the power of non-partisanship. That evening we moved on to help host Mr. Kell Ramos, a local Trenton Film maker on his efforts to finance his documentary “Misty Dawn”. This important documentary chronicles the horribleness of Domestic Violence and the failures of our current legal system when it comes to keeping our women safe from abusers. The second purpose of this documentary is to help raise awareness and support for Senate Bill 1773 – which establishes A publicly accessible domestic violence Internet registry. The bill is Sponsored by Assemblyman Reed Gusciora, Senator Shirley K. Turner and Co-Sponsored by Senator Linda Greenstein. The event drew some very important speakers on Domestic Violence - Senator Linda Greenstein, Dr. Roger Mitchell, Chief Medical Examiner, Washington, DC, Ms. Kim Rouse and Fatima Dipiriola-Rosado, Domestic Violence Survivor. Thank you all who attended and supported this event. We will continue our work with the community on this issue and hope to gain further support from those who could not make it out on this occasion.
