On Saturday, a Brooklyn Park resident noticed her neighbor’s fence had graffiti on it. She took a picture of it and reported it to the Brooklyn Park Police. The resident then went home, posted the picture on Facebook and asked if anyone could help remove it. She received a quick rely from a resident that lived fairly close that said he would gladly meet her at the house. Together they spoke to the homeowner where the graffiti was. The homeowner did not speak much English but was thrilled that neighbors would come out and lend a hand. Hats off to these two residents that made a big difference in our community! Graffiti is a common type of property vandalism. Immediate removal… within 24-48 hours… is a key to successful graffiti prevention. If you see graffiti in Brooklyn Park, please call 911 to report it. About 80% of graffiti is tagger graffiti. Another 5% are pieces, or large visuals. Nationally, gang graffiti makes up about 10% of graffiti.
