This law was never put before the voters to vote on, many, many people have spoken out against it and you- elected officials elected to serve and protect the community are not even listening to the people in this community. Except for Micah and Pamela, you have not shown one ounce of compassion towards us or even had the decency to respond to any of our emails. If this was happening to you or to someone you loved, perhaps then you might feel differently about this issue and take it more seriously. While I appreciate the special meeting you will be having in two weeks regarding this ordinance. The Planning Dept. is still doing all the dirty work, while you look the other way and allow it to happen. Meanwhile, there is still blood on your hands for destroying so many homes and driving people into depression. You act like there is nothing you can do to save my home, but in reality you could have a closed session regarding our case tomorrow if you really wanted to and push back the date for demolition at the very least. Although my home may be condemned, my spirit is not. Im not going anywhere until a moratorium is put into motion and the Rental Inspection Ordinance is finally abolished. While I am all for Health and Safety standards, I am not for all of a sudden enforcing zoning standards that havent seen the light of day in decades! Why this continues to happen with your blessing is beyond my comprehension. Are you really that concerned with parking? Does UCSC control the policies in this city or do you? Do you really have that negative a view of rental properties? Then perhaps you all should be required to view each home personally before its so thoughtlessly condemned to be destroyed. At least Micah toke me up on my offer to come over and see my home for himself. I urge you to seriously consider the negative ramifications that have resulted by this ordinance and put a stop to it immediately. Sincerely, Paula Gregoire
