On September 11, 2001 I got a call from our morning host on the CCM station in Chicago. Hey Kev, said Johnny Stone (Looking Up to # 1) on the other end. We dont have a news feed and a plane just rammed into the Towers, find out what you can and call me back. I jumped out of bed, turned on the television to see that indeed Tower 2 had been hit and a long plume of black smoke was coming out. I tried to gather as many facts as possible and did an impromptu news report for the music station. As soon as we hung up. I looked up at the television and saw the second plane fly right into Tower 1. The afternoon before my Station Manager #DaveSantrella, had informed me that I would be the next afternoon drive host for #WYLL (AM 1160 Hope For Your Life) . The current host, (Sandy Rios in the Morning) had been given an opportunity in Washington DC. But at the moment she was on a trip to China, and was secretly STUCK in North Korea. We wouldnt find out about that for a couple of days. I spent close to 12 hours on the air that day, talking to people, and letting listeners, pray, cry, and talk. The attached song is a montage that #DaveSenes and I put together on the day of 9/11. All of the footage was being grabbed as fast as it was occurring.
