On September 12, 2014, David Landry was arrested for multiple counts of heroin trafficking following an extensive investigation. Landry has been held at the Barnstable House of Correction on $150,000 bail since his arrest. Over the past 5 months, investigating Detectives have continued the investigation into Landry and members of his drug trafficking organization. That lengthy investigation uncovered evidence identifying and linking several other individuals to the operation including Justin Groom (age 25 of Bourne), Derek Locurto (age 29 of Bourne) and Evan Lopes (age 26 of Wareham). The investigation began in mid 2014 as a heroin trafficking case and has since expanded to include hydroponic marijuana, hash oil, and methamphetamine. On 1/14/15, search warrants were obtained for two additional residences tied to the Landry drug trafficking investigation. The houses were located at 304 Village Drive in Bourne and 14 Point Pleasant Circle in E. Wareham. On 1/15/15, Investigators from several different agencies executed the two search warrants simultaneously. Officers seized several ounces of marijuana and over $7000 in cash from the Village Drive residence. Derek Locurto will face a future charge of Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute. Upon searching the E. Wareham address, Detectives seized over 2 kilograms (approximately 2200 grams) of suspected methamphetamine. The methamphetamine was found by Wareham Detective Brian Whalen buried under a large pile of firewood outside the residence. Evan Lopes was arrested and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine (over 200 grams). Lopes was transported to the Wareham Police Department where he was held overnight. On 1/16/15, Lopes was arraigned in Wareham District Court and held on $50,000 bail. The wholesale value of the Methamphetamine is over $40,000. The street value is over $200,000. Note – Last week (1/6) Detectives raided another Bourne residence (8 Cheryl Ln) associated with the Landry investigation and discovered sophisticated hydroponic marijuana grow operation inside the residence. One suspect (Justin Groom) was arrested after Detectives seized approximately $50,000 worth of hydroponic grow equipment, $5500 in cash, and over $35,000 in marijuana and hash oil. Detectives from Barnstable, Falmouth, Mashpee, Barnstable Sheriff’s Office, Wareham, and Bourne, along with ATF Agents participated in the cooperative multi-jurisdictional investigation. The investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
