On September 19th 1973 , the 26-year-old Gram Parsons, of The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers, died in Joshua Tree, California from heart failure as a result of drug overdose. His coffin was stolen and was taken to Cap Rock in the California desert, where it was set on fire due to to Parsons wishes. Gram was a huge fan of George Jones and other traditional country artists and is attributed to the Byrds dabbling in country music leading to some members switching to country and forming the Desert Rose Band a decade later.
