I am happy to inform you all that the Trinity College National Drum and Dance Troupe has been invited to visit Vietnam for a folk dance festival in April. The news was conveyed by Deegayu and I got the following information from Mr. Somasinghe who functions as the master in-charge of the troupe presently. The details in brief are as below. Hue festival, an international cultural and tourist event of Vietnam which takes place bi-annually. It is a cultural event influenced with Hue cultural identity. The festival is called the 8th Hue Festival. The invitation has been sent by the Peoples Committee of the Thua Thien Hue province. They will be responsible for the performance arrangements, accommodation and sight-seeing tour within the Hue city during the festival. The festival will be held from 12th to 20th April. With this invitation I think the jinx has been finally broken after a lapse of over 20 years and the boys are getting a wonderful opportunity to fly out and perform outside Sri Lanka. As a show of solidarity and support it would be a fine gesture if we as past members could contribute some money towards the intended tour. Deegayu has already contributed Rs 5000. There is no fixed amount. Anything over Rs 1000 is okay. I suggest that all money is credited through a cheque drawn in favor of the principal, Trinity college Kandy along with a covering letter indicating the purpose of the deposit. As we have on many occasions discussed how best we can help in the continuation of the troupe of which we are proud of, lets rise up for the occasion. You may also contact Mr. Somasinghe on this phone number 0771577264. Yours Sincerely, Chanaka
