On Sunday November 23, 2014, Community Ministry of Prince Georges County (CMPGC) celebrates 41 years of service as a Faith-based Charity 501 (c) (3) organization. In my previous posts, I provided some insights about our efforts to grow the business part of the organization by winning and implementing health disparity grants, maintaining donors, and getting funding again in the human services areas. I am pleased to state that CMPGC in the first quarter of fiscal year 2015 received grants from our County government and foundations to fund some of our delivery of basic human services support. This along with our growing grants in the health disparity areas coupled with tight fiscal constraints is working. As of September 2014, CMPGC achieved a positive profit and loss statement and the organization does not operate with a line of credit or any loans. By late October, CMPGC paid all debts owed and now maintains a small but growing reserve in the bank. So we are blessed as we reach 41 years on Sunday November 23, 2014. With the heavy human services work that we are committed to perform during the November to January period, we are delaying a real celebration event to March 2015. We are distributing Thanksgiving Food Baskets to 410 families on Monday November 24, 2014 and conducting our annual Christmas Luncheon for needy children on December 22, 2014. For our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Observance on January 19, 2015 we are torn between deciding to do a community service project that allows families to spend the day off with family or conducting a traditional service in a church. I would appreciate your views. We also continue to seek gifts and donations which can be done easily via our on-line giving at cmpgc. We also appreciate receiving tax deductible gifts via PO Box 250; Upper Marlboro, MD 20773. Please make the gifts payable to CMPGC or Community Ministry of Prince Georges County. We thank all for your prayers, partnership, and support! We give thanks as we celebrate CMPGCs anniversary, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays along with other December holidays!
