On Sunday RFC Tim Vickery received a call about a gunshot being heard near a hunting club. RFC Vickery and RFC Brandon Pierce responded. After investigating the complaint, evidence was located and the rangers went to a farm nearby where they located a hunter and a deer that looked as if it had been killed with a firearm and not archery equipment. A sample of the deer skin and meat was taken to be send off to the Tennessee Wildlife Forensics lab for lead and copper testing. The next day the hunter notified RFC Vickery that he needed to speak with him. RFC Vickery and Sgt. Stan Elrod met the subject and he confessed to killing the deer with a firearm. The deer was seized and was ruined unfortunately as it had been laying out all day. The poacher was issued citations.
