On Sunday night, I stumbled across a tree that had a paternal grand aunt on it. Not only did it have my aunt, it gave me her middle name which I did not know, and it told me who she married which I did not know. This tree had over 1300 photos, and I looked through all 1300+ and found surnames that represented at least ten branches of my family tree, including some that are a brick wall. So, using Ancestrys blind message system, I wrote to her and told her how excited I was to find her tree. I explained what my connection is to the grand aunt on the tree and asked her if she would have any information to help me break down my brick wall on my fathers maternal side. She has checked into Ancestry twice since Sunday, but she still has not answered me. I am usually a very patient person, but I am becoming discouraged over this one. I now know that my grand aunts full name was Rebecca Harriet Horton. That makes perfect sense since her mother was Harriet. And, due to finding out her husbands name and seeing a photo of her gravestone in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Russellville, AL, I know that I have walked past her grave many times in my life without ever knowing that Rebecca Pace, as inscribed on the headstone, was my great aunt. I have told my family that when I am buried, I want my name on my headstone just as it is on Facebook--Bettye Horton Bunch--to give future genealogists a hint or confirmation. Besides, deep down inside of me, everything I have ever accomplished was done so built upon the girl that is still inside of me named Bettye Horton. My roots run deep. I just dont know where all of them started with all of these brick walls.
