On The Road Again….Da What Ta Heck Tour…Day 142, 143, posted on 144. Rain run, sun run, rain run, sun run..temps…50’s. Greetings from Finally Home: Massachusetts. We left New York in a cold, steady rain, suited up in full rain gear and since nobody was buying my “Delicate Lotus Blossom” persona…this pseudo biker babe sissy pants also donned plugged in Gerbings heated gear. The rain subsided and the sun decided … to shine as we rode thru Connecticut…but came back in good old “Little Rhody”..Rhode Island. Massachusetts brought us a sunny road home and that was the last bit of sun we had….weather wise and…huh….as we faced our apartment disaster head on. We arrived at 2:30 p.m. to find the contractors ….one finishing up back porch work for the day and the other packing up to quit for the day..what????...Hey..dudes…the kitchen…it’s not anywhere near done!! And I quote..” Uh yeah, like , nobody told us you were coming home”. So…we have spent the last two days...(btw, it was raining today and they didn’t show up so no interior work was done)…making our bedroom, living room and bathroom clean and livable. We can’t begin to express our gratitude to Karl and Chris, the best neighbors in the entire universe for clearing out our valuables, moving our possessions out of the disaster area , and even taking our electronics to their apartment for safe keeping! But even with all their hard work, the aprt still looked like a melt down at the Crayola Factory! I had, as of late, entertained the notion that perhaps….um..ok..I definitely… had crossed the line from country cute to country clutter..but when I was able to stand back and observe all the country crap piled into one room I realized that I had not only crossed the line but had gone off the road and into a ditch!!! So for the last two days I have been sorting thru all my “treasures” to keep only my “true treasures”, piling the rest into boxes for Goodwill. Now, our contingency plan … since we had water and electric in our aprt..was to sleep and shower in our aprt and cook in the vacant aprt upstairs from us. Our landlady, totally agreed with my suggestion of that soooo, today, Wednesday, while Ken spent absolutely forever ...seriously…hours trying to get our suspended service back to full and active with Verizon internet and Comcast Cable…booo hiss…. I cleaned and moved necessary kitchen stuff up to our remote kitchen upstairs…not an ideal situation but..huh..it is what it is and is better than another extended stay in a motel. All in all, our trip was great fun with the Roadside Americas, precious with family time and filled with gratitude to THE BIG GUY for our safety…..and seriously, what more could a Rider Man and his Fender Fluff ask for! P.S. Its Thursday and what do my wondering ears hear: A loud knock at the back door. Could it be??? It is!!!! The contractors are back to work on the interior of the kitchen. But wait, damn.... First they have to take out the new window they installed because the landlady wants all the windows to match. So they gotta have the old one rebuilt. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!! Bang, bang, bang. Not only is that their hammers, but also my head against the wall!!!!!
