On The Whole Nine Yards on seahavenfm this Thursday 20th November 7-9pm: Songs about Furniture Sounds uninspiring? Not at all as The Cure prove with their innocent yet lascivious request for carnal relations in ‘Let’s go to bed’, whereas Kingmaker uses an armchair as a lethal metaphor for pretend revolutionaries in ‘Armchair Anarchist’. U2 uses a table to represent the wealth of the west and the poverty of the third world in ‘Crumbs from your Table’. Kitchen Table figures in Jake Bugg’s breakup tale from the album Shangri La – and a ‘Bedshaped’ space summarises Keane’s paean to lost love. Beds and tables predominate this week – but we also find room to accommodate Sia’s ‘Chandelier’ and a chair that Arctic Monkeys have moved. Sit down , lie down or swing from the chandelier this week - either way you’ll enjoy it. If you have a song that’s part of the furniture email me at roy.stannard@seahavenfm
